The MEP Interest Group on Life Course Immunisation (LCI) officially launched on 30 January 2025 at the European Parliament. Established to champion lifelong immunisation policies across Europe, the group aims to position vaccination as a fundamental component of public health at every stage of life. Supported by the Coalition for Life-Course Immunisation (CLCI) acting as its secretariat, this group provides a collaborative platform for policymakers, scientists, healthcare professionals, and public health advocates to drive evidence-based immunisation strategies.

Key Policy Areas and Strategic Goals:

  1. European Health Union & Prevention
    • Integrating vaccination into the core framework of a preventive European Health Union.
    • Ensuring sustainable funding and political commitment to maintain high vaccination coverage.
  2. European Health Data Space (EHDS)
    • Utilizing EHDS to support real-time vaccine monitoring and enhance data interoperability.
    • Encouraging research and informed policy development while safeguarding patient privacy and autonomy.
  3. Expanding Pharmacist Roles in Immunisation
    • Increasing vaccination accessibility through pharmacist-administered vaccines.
    • Enhancing public access to immunisation services in non-traditional healthcare environments.
  4. Harmonized EU Immunisation Schedule
    • Developing a unified adult vaccination calendar to ensure consistency and equity across member states.
    • Aligning national policies with EU-wide standards to close coverage gaps and address disparities.
