2020 World Meningitis Day Friday 24th April

This World Meningitis Day, CLCI are joining a global community committed to #DefeatMeningitis

World Meningitis Day falls in European Immunisation Week, and it's a time to highlight how #VaccinesWork for all so we can combat the resurgence of vaccine-preventable diseases and support healthcare systems – particularly important in this global coronavirus pandemic.

Meningitis is a medical emergency that can kill in hours or lead to life-changing after-effects and so prevention is key. A common misconception is that only babies and young children can contract meningitis when, in reality, anyone at any age can contract the disease and older adults are at particular risk. Supporting a life-course approach to immunisation helps keep more people healthy and safe from the devastating impacts of vaccine-preventable diseases like meningitis.

We all play a role in keeping our communities safe so act today to #DefeatMeningitis. Visit the Confederation of Meningitis Organisations' World Meningitis Day homepage to learn more about this campaign and what you can do. Sign the pledge and make your voice heard!
